Why every brand needs a muse

Every artist has its muse – there’s a powerful source of inspiration behind all your favourite works of art. Just as artists have their muses, every brand needs to have a muse too.

Let’s start with the definition of muse: a person or personified force who is the source of inspiration for a creative artist.

Creative Artist = your audience

Person or personified force = the brand, YES this is you!

Every artist has a muse – it’s a powerful source of inspiration behind all your favourite works of art. Just as artists have their muses, every brand needs to have a muse too.

We act as our audiences muse by inspiring them but we need our own to fuel the inspiration. Brands’ muses are their unique selling point, or the light that shines brighter than their competitors.

It’s not just a competitive edge like being cheaper or faster, it is having a true connection with your audience and connecting with your dream clients - those who you can be a muse for.

Having your own muse is incredibly powerful. Your muse allows you to be recognisable to your audience by standing out from the rest of your sector and connecting with your customers.

Your muse consists of your brand strategy that gives you a clear visual direction to represent this. Your brand strategy establishes your why, who and how, the reason for your brand and where you stand in the market. Your visual direction is a clear indication for how you would like your brand to look, the colours, typography, brand imagery and graphical elements.
